I often think that the world can give us a cacophony of distracting input on what we should and shouldn’t do and in the process of evolving as humans, we take in little bits and pieces from everywhere and then set about telling ourselves that we’ve come up short in so many different ways.

Instead, why not set our own standards and expectations for ourselves – we can aspire to exactly what and who we want to be in this world without allowing external distractions to take us on a roller coaster of emotions.

Today’s motivational nudge is: Look within and determine what is most important to you, what elevates you, what inspires you – and decide who you want to be in this world on your own terms. Then, go about meeting your own standards, the ones you’ve set for yourself – in a peaceful, mindful and purposeful way.

Have a great day!
This is something that I do naturally because I’m very independent-minded, and while I know it doesn’t come naturally for a lot of people, I have time imagining what it would feel like to not be feistily stubborn about doing things on my own terms.

I think that’s a great trait to have. I think all the information and feedback coming in from so many sources can be a distraction sometimes.

Love this post. Be yourself and be the change you want to see 😊. Reminds me of the Michael Jackson song “Man in the Mirror”

I agree that it’s too easy to let external events get us down, especially these days. The best defence is to understand your values and stick to them.
